Natural Dye & Embroidery Study
I went to Lacoste, France, a small village in the south of France, to study the process of natural dying and the art of embroidery. I gathered swatches of various all-natural dyes, ranging from common sources like avocado to more rare sources like murax. Most days I would take early morning walks in the village and gather different flowers and nuts. Then take them back to the lab where I studied the effect they had on different fabrics and the range of color I could get from them. I was also taught the skill of embroidery which was a craft I worked on throughout my trip. Taking inspiration from Paris to the farmers market, I would stitch images that would remind me of my study abroad experience.
